Teacher to Franchise Owner: Former Educators Embark on New Adventures with The Outdoors Project!
Turning the Love for Education into a Business
Teachers across the UK are finding new opportunities by turning their passion for education into successful businesses with The Outdoors Project. By combining their love for working with children, with the benefits of outdoor learning and play, many former educators are discovering fulfilling new career paths as franchise owners, bringing adventure clubs to communities nationwide.
Meet Gayle, Dan, Mel, and George – current franchisees who have transitioned from teaching to running their own successful clubs. While George, a mother of five, has extensive experience managing children, Dan, Mel, and Gayle all made the leap from teaching careers to reignite their passion in a new way.
Dan, who spent nine years as a teacher and pastoral worker, shares:
"After 9 years of teaching, I want to focus again on the important things; fun and creativity. Getting kids outdoors and away from screens is my new goal."
Mel, a qualified P.E. teacher with a career that spanned various educational settings, including inner-city schools and international camps, sought greater work-life balance after becoming a parent.
"Since my daughter and son were born, I've been looking for new opportunities close to home that give me more work-life balance," Mel said. After discovering The Outdoors Project online and attending a Discovery Day, she knew it was the right fit. "I love the brand, its core values, and the activity sessions. I wish I could be a kid again and attend the clubs!"
Gayle, a former classics teacher, finds joy in The Outdoors Project's themed activity days.
"After more than a decade of teaching, it’s time to get outside more and share that benefit with others. I love working with children, and The Outdoors Project seemed like the perfect way to combine those passions.
