Shaun By The Sea | Brighton & Hove
Guess who's back?!
Welcome home, Countess Sheepy!
She’s enjoyed her adventures around Brighton & Hove, and is happy to be back home - safe & sound.
This is our Shaun, part of Brighton & Hove's Shaun By The Sea art trail in aid of Martlets Hospices. The art trail featured over a hundred Shaun The Sheep statues which were commisioned and designed by local companies. We named ours Countess Sheepy, designed & painted by one of our own instructor, Ella Smith, taking influence from counting sheep (we can't come to a decision on how many sheep there are... we keep falling asleep!).
Track her journey below...
1) Shaun arrived at our office! A very exciting day in The Outdoors Project Brighton & Hove HQ. You can see Fern, our Snailspace snail in the background, which is from 2016's art trail in Brighton, again ran by Martlets. See Fern below in all her glory. (Quiz: why do you think we chose the name Fern? Could it be an anagram? Could it be a plant which flourishes in the outdoors?)
2) Shaun did a tour of clubs. He loved watching everyone running around in the green spaces! He did get some clay on his face, but who doesn't when they spend a week at our clubs?
3) Shaun was painted Ella, our instructor & artist extraordinaire (check out Ella's art here). This transformed Shaun the Sheep, in Countess Sheepy!
4) Countess Sheepy went to hang out with some pals at Hove Museum - she knew these guys from back at the farm and loved it. You can see Shauns from Lancing Prep Hove & the Hove Surf Life Saving Club next to her. Thousands of you came and saw her! She blushed a little.
5) The trail lasted for 2 months, raising £750,000 for Martlets. It over £10 million every year to run Martlets Hospices and they rely on fundraising & donations. More than 70% is through donations from the local Brighton community - thanks to ewe! We love that Martlets do this, not just for caring for the community, but in bringing together the Brighton community in these art trails. Here's a final chance to donate to the wonderful project.
And finally, Countess Sheepy returns to The Outdoors Project Brighton & Hove HQ in time for Christmas.
