Am I Eligible For Discounted Childcare? - Childcare Vouchers & Tax Free Childcare
What are the various schemes or discounts available?
1) Childcare Vouchers
Childcare Vouchers are a type of workplace benefit. Ask your employer if they can offer you them. These schemes work by putting some of your monthly paycheck aside for childcare, in the form of Childcare Vouchers, and you therefore don't receive this money in your bank account, and therefore avoid paying any tax or national insurance on it.
To pay for our clubs by Childcare Vouchers, please have a look at our guide here.
2) Tax Free Childcare
A scheme where the government tops up any childcare payments by 25% - e.g. pay in £80 to the government portal & they top it up to £100. Not everyone's eligible but it's worth checking. It's can be complex, & we're not financial experts by any stretch here, so please follow this link to a guide made by Money Saving Expert to see more information. We're not affiliated with them but we find it's a useful resource.
To pay in this way, follow the Childcare Voucher payment method (here's the guide) and select Tax Free Childcare from the dropdown list of Childcare Voucher providers.
3) Universal Credit & Tax Credits
If you're on government benefits, you can claim some childcare costs back. Again, we're not experts. Have a look here for more info (Citizens Advice).
4) Childcare Grant Services
Are you a mature student? The government can pay 85% of childcare costs. See if you're eligible here on the government's website.
There may be more schemes and help out there for you still. It's worth speaking with your employer and Googling what else is out there. We find Money Saving Expert to be a great resource (again, we're not affiliated with it, and are not accountable for any financial advice on there!)
5) Bright Horizons
Some large employers such as American Express, Legal & General & Cisco are part of a scheme called Bright Horizons. You can book directly through their platform for The Outdoors Project Brighton & Hove at discounted rates. Ask your employer if they are part of Bright Horizons
