Amy speaks about her new Outdoors Project franchise in Havering
Hello! I’m Amy, owner of the Havering branch of The Outdoors Project. I’m a passionate advocate for children’s mental health and wellbeing and love nothing better than an adventure outdoors! I was a primary-school teacher for 14 years, but after having my daughter, I found that I wanted to pursue something different; something where I could still make positive impact on children’s lives that would also offer me a better work-life balance.
I’m so glad I found The Outdoors Project! I was signed up to the ‘Did Teach’ emails and saw an ODP advertisement in August 2021. It was the only thing that had appealed to me since I had decided to step out of teaching. I’d never considered taking on a franchise before but thought The Outdoors Project looked perfect. I’d soon set up a date with Sam to attend a discovery day at the Brighton HQ and it all went from there!
Having grown up in the South Wales valleys it would have been impossible not to fall in love with nature. I spent many a school trip up a mountain or in a river somewhere in the Brecon Beacons. As well as enjoying exploring the UK, I have hang glided through the air in Byron Bay, scuba dived in the Great Barrier Reef and hiked glaciers in New Zealand. I am also a qualified yoga-teacher, having completed my training in Kerala, India, in 2017.
I am launching The Outdoors Project – Havering in the Easter holidays and can’t wait to grow the ODP community further.
