DEN BUILDING. Fun stuff to do...

Hey kids here's some wise words from Outdoors Project Leader Joel about today's activity.  "This is a favourite of mine, I love making dens inside. There is no right or wrong way really. You can create something to sleep in, just to chill in to read your favourite book or a fort to hide out from dinosaurs! I always go with the dinosaur option personally!”

We'll be back outside Den Building soon but in the meantiem read on to find out what you need and our Top Tips, Riddle of the Day & more.

The Outdoors Project West Sussex Franchise End of Year Round-Up

We've had an incredible 2019 here The Outdoors Project West Sussex and we wanted to fill you in on all the happenings, look back to share some of our achievements and give you a glimpse into what to expect in 2020.  We're very proud of how far we've come and super excited for what's in store next year!  To start with, we've been doing some number-crunching and thanks to the support of all the wonderful parents, guardians and carers and most importantly, our fantastic kids that attend the clubs, workshops and activity days, these are a few of the headline accomplishments for 2019...

Join our Tribe. How you can run your own franchise.

Friends and parents often say that they would love to have a job like ours.  We spend a huge proportion of our working life outdoors in the fresh air, laughing, exercising and playing. How many adults can add those activities to their job description! Granted, there is a huge amount of planning that goes into the clubs, to ensure that children have the most fun possible, whilst in a free range and safe outdoor environment but the good news is that we have done most of the hard work for you, meaning that were you to run your own Outdoors Project Franchise, you would be ready to go almost immediately.

Outdoors All Weathers!

Outdoors All Weathers!

Our clubs are all outdoors come rain or shine, children are spending their childcare club time in the fresh air, partaking in a wide range of activities that teach them a whole range of skills including team building, navigation skills, art, leadership, planning and resilience. The sun may not always be beaming but the smiles will be!

The Outdoors Project Leadership and Character development programme

The Outdoors Project Leadership and Character development programme

Do you know/are you 16+ and interested in gaining experience working within the Children’s Activities &  Outdoors Adventure Industry?

We are often approached by school leavers &/or their parents about gaining work experience with The Outdoors Project.  We have now put a more formal programme in place to make sure the volunteers get the most out of the experience and that we have the potential to gain new staff.

This would suit college students requiring work based learning as part of their course, Duke of Edinburgh participants or anyone looking to gain valuable experience in the industry.  We are looking for enthusiastic and dedicated young people.   This is a chance to share your love of fun, nature, action and the great outdoors and to learn new skills.    Please get in touch for more information if you are interested in joining the programme this July onwards Summer Holiday and/or September 2019 School Term.

Autumn Term '19 After School Club report

Autumn Term '19 After School Club report

Activities this term have included; * Storm Kettle & Nettle Tea brewing * Viking Pottery * Minecraft Volcano Build * Creeper Game * Apache Lahal Stick Game * Viking Kubb * The Randomizer (which mission will you pick?) * Nerf (at participating schools only) & Adventure Games all featuring the key ingredient FUN !

The children that attend the club are full of energy, intelligence and charisma and these dynamic personalities really create a great environment for fun and learning.   There is a lot of focus on sharing praise and encouragement for effort. During the sessions we work through problems to find solutions, help the children understand everyone has different abilities and strengths and encourage each child to make decisions for themselves. The children have shown their resilience in adverse weather conditions during the first half of term and we’ve also seen some amazing team work.

Nothing like messing about in the great outdoors!

I’ve always had a real thing about holiday clubs and in fact any kind of organised activity for kids to do during the holidays that might even remotely feel like school.
